Anantara Spa unveils first urban retreat in Shanghai

Anantara Spa, one of the world's leading spa brands, is to open its first urban escape in China.  Located at the PuLi Hotel in the heart of Shanghai, the Anantara Spa offers a lavish sanctuary from the stresses of everyday life and blends the modernity of this vibrant metropolis with the ancient culture and ethereal beauty of China.

Anantara Spa's unique approach to creating authentic cultural experiences whilst offering the most up-to-date treatments is in perfect harmony with The PuLi's commitment to creating "a sense of place" for its guests.

Situated on the 3rd floor of the 26-floor property, the Anantara Spa at the PuLi overlooks the tranquil Jing' An Park and is a short distance from city landmarks, bustling downtown corporate headquarters and exclusive designer boutiques.

Naim Maadad, Managing Director of  MSpa Global and Minor Hotel Middle East , which operates Anantara Spas across Asia, the Middle East, Europe and Africa, said: "We are thrilled to bring Anantara Spa to Shanghai. We will offer international travellers as well as local residents the absolute finest treatments and signature service for which Anantara Spa is renowned. This new venture is truly a capstone for MSpa and the Anantara Spa brand."

The Anantara Spa at The PuLi is contemporary in feel with the use of wood and glass with the muted tones and serene lighting of the interior décor providing a genuine sense of luxury and indulgence. The spa has an elegant architectural design that draws together exquisitely its Chinese and Thai influences. Its five treatment suites are luxuriously appointed with steam and shower rooms and are perfect for individuals or for two people to indulge in spa pampering together. Directly adjacent is the hotel's signature infinity pool and state-of-the-art fitness centre.

Drawing on China's healing past and ancient therapies from Thailand and India, as well as the very best that the 21st century has to offer, the extensive menu is inspired by the renowned healing properties of Tea - the centuries-old beverage that is woven into the very fabric of Chinese ritual. Signature treatments draw on the detoxifying powers of Green Tea, the balancing force of White Tea and the beautifying properties of Rose Tea. And, of course, at the end of each treatment guests will be encouraged to linger awhile to relax, sip on the brew of their choice and conjure images of when ladies gathered at Shanghai's most famous tea pavilions in a bygone age.

Signature journeys include the Green Tea Purification and the White Tea Moisturiser. These exclusive and uniquely tailored treatments each offer three hours of complete indulgence and combine the relaxing and restorative effects of scrubs, wraps and massage. Guests can also choose a traditional Ling Zhi bath, an ancient bathing ritual that utilises the power of fresh ginger to detoxify the body and lift the spirit or an age-old Oriental Foot Massage.

Anantara's team of highly trained and nurturing receptionists and therapists is dedicated to creating unforgettable guest experiences that are as personalised as possible. Pampering products resplendent with intoxicating fragrances and genuinely proven properties combine with unparalleled service to promote inner calm, balance and harmony.
